A Merry christ-mass ? Should “christmas” be celebrated ?

A Merry CHRIST-MASS? / Robert Aaron Bills

One of the most celebrated “holidays” is commonly known today as "christmas" but literally it’s from the roman catholic church and originally called christ mass, a catholic mass in “honor” of the birth of the Messiah.

“J-e-s-u-s” is noted as the "reason for the season", which is not justified by any scripture whatsoever. The first thing I must mention is the letter J did not even exist in the English language until a little over 500 years ago, the Messiah’s name is not jesus. He was a Hebrew, born in Israel, to Israeli Torah observant parents. His name would be Yahushua (according to a well-researched current understanding of His birth name), which means Yahu-eh saves. There are many who also refer to the Messiah as Yeshua which is His name in Aramaic, a sister Hebrew language spoken during the same time period the Messiah was here on earth.

The associated "season" has actually become very unmerry though. Families go into debt, suffer depression, and get in bondage to materialism, just trying to keep up with this tradition.

Far after the pagan/heathen merger of false religion practices into our calendar days, consumers made up “santa claus”. This “santa” breaks into homes to spoil children with gifts while everyone is sleeping. People take them to meet a strange old man in the mall to sit on his lap, they then get candy from this stranger, and take a memory photo. Then “Santa” is portrayed as godlike when children are told “he knows when you've been naughty or nice, he knows when you’re sleeping and wide awake". Not only is this creepy, it’s pure evil, and just plain lying. Grown adults playing make believe, and act contradictory to the parenting standards of teaching them to be safe from strangers in the world.

The excuse for lying to the children is that they are celebrating Saint Nicholas, and that “it’s fun”. This Nicholas was a skinny Roman Bishop, not a big bellied man, nor was he very jolly, and there are little accounts of him being around any children. How then do we justify the “christmas” period? We can absolutely know for sure that it has nothing to do with the Scriptural Messiah.

What is it really? Let's take a look at the unexpected heathen origins of “christmas”.

December 25th is the day most “christians” celebrate the "birth of christ”, which christ is a Greek term erroneously thought by many to represent the Messiah by purposeful connection . The date December 25th itself and several of the customs actually evolved from heathen traditions celebrating the winter solstice and many heathen “gods” with a feast called saturnalia. The roman catholic church then put a christian title on it "christ mass" in honor of the birth of "jesus". Something very important to mention, putting a “christian” title on something DOES NOT make it “Godly”.

This day was celebrated way before the Messiah came to earth, by heathens or pagans who did not follow the one true creator.

In the 4th century, “christmas” and all the other traditional holidays celebrated unknowingly started off heathen and became mingled into roman catholic christianity having nothing to do with the real Messiah, it was set up to unite the people in one religion, and specifically to convert heathens to “christainity”. This particular day, December 25th, heathen religions believe the sun starts coming back and is the day of birth of many false heathen “gods” like Apollo, Attis, Bacchus, Dionysus (son of Zeus), Helios, Hercules, Horus, Jupiter, Mithras, Nimrod (Baal), Perseus, Sol Invictus (The Unconquered Sun), and Tammuz.

The day is celebrated with gift giving, candle lighting, singing, decorating houses, and a lot of debauchery.

“Christmas Wreaths”:

The priests of the heathen god saturn carried evergreen wreaths made out of evergreen trees throughout the pagan Roman temples.

“Christmas Tree and gifts”:

The mother and wife of Nimrod (a.k.a. Baal) Semiramis (a.k.a. the heathen goddess Astarte/Asherah/Ashtoreth/Isis/Ishtar/Easter, also known as diana in ephesus) claimed that after the untimely death of her son/husband Nimrod (Baal), a full grown evergreen tree had sprang up overnight from a dead tree stump. She claimed that Nimrod would visit that evergreen tree and leave gifts each year on his day of birth which was December 25th. This tree signals the "return of life" and "light" as the winter solstice uses the fact that around this season is also when the days start to get longer.

Tree Ornaments:

These were fruits offered as a food offering to the tree, symbolizing luck and other superstitions.

Mistletoe:

This was started by the Druids, who believed it was an all-powerful healing item from the sacred oak tree. If you met someone in the forest you gave them the sign of peace under the mistletoe so people started to hang the mistletoe above their doorways as a symbol of peace. This was such a powerful symbol of paganism that English churches actually banned the use of it.

The very first instance of a "war on christmas" actually dates back to the Puritans in the mid-17th century. They knew all of these things, the date, the traditions, and that they were heathen ideas.

The Puritans actually got christmas banned for 200 years in America before the celebration gained popularity again, firstly in Louisiana and then Alabama.

The reason for the season is paganism. Have you ever asked why so many chop down pine/fur-trees, stand them up in their homes, and decorate them? The Bible proves this heathen tradition was happening way before the Messiah in the “Old Testament”:

Jeremiah 10:2-4 Thus says Yahu-eh, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people [are] vain: for [one] cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.

We see the traditions done for this day are heathen in the Bible and of pagan origin throughout history. Christians associate these traditions with the “Son of God” and celebrating His birth, yet none of the traditions are Scriptural in regards to the true Messiah. Many “churches” put christmas trees in their buildings, and are fully aware of this (or should be) if they have read the scriptures. How does a decorated tree, presents, wreaths, candles, mistletoe, yuletide carols, snowmen, Santa Claus, reindeer, colorful lights, candy canes, nutcrackers, etc.; have anything to do with the Messiah? They don’t!

WHERE DID HIS BIRTHDAY COME FROM?

No one has actually figured out the exact date of the Messiah’s birth into the world. There are a few clues though in Scripture like:

Luke 2:8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. This shows us it would not have been in December in the winter because it would be to cold for the shepherds to live in the field. In John 1:14 we read “the Word became flesh and dwelt among us”. The word dwelt in the KJV is from the Greek word skenoo which means to tent, camp, or tabernacle. Messiah Yahushua was born on the feast of Tabernacles which is 6 months after the birth of His cousin John the baptist. When Mary went to visit Elizabeth to tell her she was with child, Elizabeth was 6 months pregnant putting John 6 months older than Messiah. John was historically born during Passover time period , 6 months later is the feast of Tabernacles. John was not being poetic in John 1:14 He was actually writing a truth in a common Hebraic way.

Is there a possible reason why Yahu-eh made sure there was no mention of His son’s birth date? The scriptures about His birth are short with little detail, and He quickly grows up to being 12 years old in the same chapter. Yet it is expounded on so much with many false ideas that are not found in the Bible. In the same chapter he even lets His parents know not to be worried about Him as a child because He has work to do here, in fact, His first recorded words spoken:

Luke 2:49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? Do you not know that I must be about my Father's business?

His parents were notified prior to His birth of His purpose.

Yet they were concerned He was still a child being off on His own. He was only 12, while making it clear to us, that He came here for His Father's business and being only a child should be of no one's concern. Why do so many focus on His birth, keeping Him as a child in our minds like Mary & Joseph did here? This “christmas” day is celebrated as the holiest day of the year for many people in regards to His birth, yet the Scriptures never commanded anybody to do that. Why is His death less important to many than his birth? When we were told by Yahushua himself to remember His death and what that represents.

Luke 22:19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

Revelation 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall properly reverence him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Should we be celebrating His birthday?

The answer is a resounding No. The Messiah’s core apostles never celebrated His birthday or even their own for that matter. Only the heathens in this time celebrated their own and other gods birthdays.

Genesis 40:20 And it came to pass the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a feast unto all his servants: and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants. In verse 22 we see that the baker ended up dead by beheading just like joseph had interpreted about the bakers dream.

Job 1:4-5 And his sons went and feasted [in their] houses, everyone his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them. And it was so, when the days of [their] feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings [according] to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually. Job's sons were celebrating their birthdays, and Job says his sons have sinned. He went and gave offerings to Yahu-eh for his sons to sanctify them. See Job calling "His day" the day of his birth: Job 3:1-3 After this opened Job his mouth, and cursed his day. And Job spake, and said, Let the day perish wherein I was born, and the night in which it was said, There is a man child conceived.

We learn in these passages by a Elohim fearing and upright perfect man that celebrating birthdays is sinful.

Matthew 14:6-9 But when Herod's birthday was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod. Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatsoever she would ask. And she, being before instructed of her mother, said, Give me here John Baptist's head in a charger. And the king was sorry: nevertheless for the oath's sake, and them which sat with him at meat, he commanded [it] to be given [her].

Herod celebrated his birthday and John the Baptist ended up dead.

Should we be celebrating our own birthdays?

Ecclesiastes 7:1-2, 8 A good name is better than precious ointment; and the day of death (better) than the day of one's birth. It is better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end of all men; and the living will lay it to his heart. Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.

After we are born anew from above in the Spirit, we are to die to sin looking towards the kingdom. We should not be so proud of our human life in this world. It is a greater thing when someone's spirit goes into the kingdom than when a soul is born into a body here on earth. We are only temporarily here, eternal life in the kingdom to come is far greater. What we are really celebrating on this day is ourselves. Are we greater than the Messiah? How can we expect our friends and family to gift us, and celebrate us coming into this world, which is Satan's kingdom? Another thing to mention about “birthdays” they are the top highest “holy” day to a satanist, the second highest “holy” day being “halloween”.

HOW HAS MINGLED PAGANISM MESSED UP WHAT THE CREATOR INTENDED ?

We have to get the history and origins to these “religious” practices that church's claim to have come from the Scriptures. When no where do we find them in the Scriptures.  A Roman Emperor named Constantine, who was a full practicing heathen baal worshipper, wanted to "Christianize" paganism with his own practices after creating the ideals that became christianity, and so he did along with the roman catholic church, by placing “Christ's” name or resemblance into almost all of the pagan holy days on their time. If these practices continue without getting the true origins or finding them in the doctrine of the Most High, then paganism remains alive and well in the assemblies today.

ARE WE TO HONOR ANYTHING ABOVE THE MOST HIGH?

Exodus 20:3-6 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I YAHU-EH your Elohim and am a jealous Elohim, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

These first of the ten commandments are the ones most broken today by all mankind. We honor and idolize so many things without even understanding what we're doing. A little statue of a Santa Claus, a nativity scene, a made up image of the Son of God, a cross, etc. We might say we don't worship the statues really but they are images and statues to look at, and the Most High commanded those who would be His NOT to do this.

Deuteronomy 7:5 But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire.

Numbers 33:52 Then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down all their high places.

Let me ask a question, does the Creator ever change? If you answered yes, you need to read your Bible again. In Malachi 3:6 we read “I am YAHU-EH, I change not”. In James, 1:17 “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness nor shadow of turning”, (in other words He does not change).

The Creator Yahu-eh Elohim said documented in Deuteronomy 12:30-32 not to serve a Him in any like manner that heathen have done to their gods, “every abomination to Yahu-eh which He hates have they done to their gods”. Doing something that was done to another god and saying you are honoring Him is an abomination and He hates it. Then in verse 32 “what things I have commanded observe and do, you shall not add to nor take from. He commanded keeping His 7 annual ordained “Feasts” and keeping His Sabbath which is in the seventh day of the week commonly known as “saturday”. These are foundational to covenant, covenant is foundational to salvation, and being able to enter into the “Kingdom of Heaven”. Prayerfully consider what has been written here.

Shalom, Robert Aaron Bills
