Apparently, (as with other things that were learned growing up out of traditional ignorance) we grew up believing that chicken, turkey, and their eggs were considered ‘food’. But, according to Scripture, it is crystal clear that they are not. YHWH gives at least 2 witnesses for a command to not eat them.
Chickens (Gallus Domesticus-scientific name) are descendants of the red jungle fowl (Gallus Gallus-scientific name) who were domesticated. The original Hebrew word for lapwing in both Leviticus 11:19 and Deuteronomy 14:18, Strong’s has as H1744 dukiyphath, which the definition has as: Of uncertain derivation; the hoopoe or else the grouse. When I looked up the family kind for grouse, both turkeys and chickens were listed as well as a few other named birds, including the jungle fowl, in that specific family. Gallus is Latin for rooster, which include the order of galliformes (the word derived from the Latin gallus). The galliformes are subdivided into 5 families, which one of those families is the Phasianidae (chicken, quail, partridges, pheasants, turkeys, peacocks, and grouse).
Peacocks have no “Kosher certification” because of two main reasons apparently;
There are a lot of “rabbi’s” who do not believe peacocks are “kosher”.
There is not enough demand for peacock to certify it “kosher”.
This is very interesting especially when you think about chicken and turkey, there is a strong demand for those.
I noticed that quail was listed and I had wondered, if this were accurate, why would YHWH have fed the Israelites quail, which is considered an unclean bird? I had always thought that quail was clean. Well, when I looked at the Scripture passage for that event, I noticed something. While they were in the process of eating the quail (while it was yet between their teeth), YHWH smote the people with a great plague. So, then my thought was, is it possible that He used the quail (unclean bird) to bring a plague on the people? It could very well have been the case. I say that because that event happened in the context of them complaining that they didn’t have the fish, cucumbers, leeks, melons, onions and garlic of Egypt and so they were lusting (having improper desires) for those things and not satisfied with the manna that YHWH had provided. It would line up with the whole counsel of YHWH, considering the fact that it is mentioned in the apostolic Scriptures that He gives people over to a reprobate mind when they are not desiring His ways. So, it appears that the quail was a punishment for their disobedience of murmuring and complaining, not a blessing as food.
Even though most modern Israelites do eat chicken and turkey (duck also), many of the “rabbis” don’t agree that those birds are clean. Just because most do, and these birds are eaten out of tradition, doesn’t negate the fact that YHWH sees them as unclean in His word. He, as the Creator and ULTIMATE AUTHORITY, commands His set apart people to not eat the lapwing and it’s kind in Leviticus 11:19 & Deuteronomy 14:18.
Chicken and Turkey are omnivores and are known to eat frogs, mice, snakes, and carrion (dead animals). because that is their true nature (especially, if left to fend for themselves without being fed grain on the farm). Watch them (there are plenty of videos out there showing this fact as well as homestead bloggers who are adamant in their articles of this fact as well, as they themselves have witnessed). There is much information on the internet by valid sources for the nature and history of chickens and turkeys. Chickens and turkeys are scavenger birds and are birds of prey ‘after the kind’ of the lapwing, which YHWH has forbidden as food. There’s no getting around the fact that they are a ‘kind’ of the lapwing. YHWH’s set apart people are not to disregard YHWH’s command just because the descendents are domesticated and there is a TRADITION of eating them as food. The ‘religious Israelite authorities’ permit the eating of such kinds of birds and their eggs that have always been eaten out of tradition, disregarding YHWH’s command. Our Messiah, Yahushua, YHWH’s word made manifest in the flesh, rebuked the ‘religious Israelite authorities’ for transgressing the commandments of YHWH by their traditions. They lay aside and reject the commandment of YHWH Elohim and hold to and keep their tradition of eating these birds. Yahushua mentioned that Isaiah prophesied well of them as hypocrites, that the people honor YHWH with their lips, but that their heart is far from Him.
So, covenant child of YHWH, How is your heart? Do you love YHWH more than your love for chicken, turkey, and eggs?

Another thing to mention is root vegetables, the scripture says the “greens” to eat are on the surface (face) of the ground, upon this coming up in discussion some research was done, root veggies (potatoes, onions, garlic, etc…) are toxin filters for the dirt, similar to how bottom feeding fish are clean up crew for water are not permitted to eat, also pigs among other unclean / not permitted to eat animals are land clean up crew.
